It became a competition.
Every test, every worksheet, every thing they did became a competition.
During the class, the teacher would be fearful of passing things back.
"Hah! I got a better score!" The two-toned hair colored boy would shout.
"I finished earlier!" She would yell back.
In P.E., they would challenge each other for a race, running until their legs gave out or when Mr. Tsubaki would get another call from his 'Kitty'.
During group projects, they would both want to hog all of the resource material so one could claim all of the credit.
During the school festival, they were assigned the same booth to take over.
When they needed to make banners for the booth, they secretly stole each other's supplies, stalling each other.
During lunch, the Kyoto trio would sit near the tree they ate at.
Then, the determined girl would come along and challenge the tallest one for an eating match.
At the end of the last class, they would tally up how many loses and wins they had gotten for the day.
Sometimes, she would cry in protest as the male celebrated.
Sometimes, the man would scowl as he watched the girl grin with glee.
It truly seemed like they hated each other, competing all of the time.
But when no one was around, perhaps late at night, via text messaging, they competed with a final competition.
No one knew.
No one needed to know.
They competed to see who would love each other more.
How can they prove who is the winner?
Simple.
They are both the victors if they truly love each other.
